3 weeks and 4 days. 3 weeks and 4 days and she still can’t take you out of her system. 3 weeks and 4 days and you still cross her mind in the wee hours in the morning, and the last couple of minutes as she lay in bed at night, before going to sleep. 3 weeks and 4 days

She knew she had to keep her guard up. She knew that she shouldn’t fall. She knew that she should have taken her stand. She was passive when she was with him. She was cautious because she didn’t want to take him in… but in one moment , all those promises that she kept to herself faded in thin air. She fell. She felt safe. She felt like she was wanted. She felt satisfied and complete. She had the best 7 months of her life….

7 months of temporal bliss. 7 months of temporal feelings. 7 months of temporal emotions -not for her, but for him. She loved him dearly. She loved him more than she ever showed, but apparently, those feelings were not reciprocated. He took her for granted. He figured that he made the wrong choice of choosing someone whose attitude is extremes from that of his. He never held her hand. He never introduced her to other people as “his girl”. He got bored with her, and claimed that he saw her 5 times a week and texting her in the weekends was a way of her invading his “alone times”.

He got tired. She never did. He got bored. She never did. He fell out of love. She never did

guess we all know who loved less.

…

She knew his number, she knew his birthday. She knew every single detail about him. In those few months, she could say that she knows him already like the back of her hand. She looked forward to every day and every moment that they will be together. She wanted to hug him and kiss him for as long as forever……

Forever.

He gave her the promise of forever. He told her to promise to stay. He told her that he will never leave. He told her that he will make things work. He told her he loved her.

She believed his promise of forever. She made a promise to stay. She believed that he will never leave. She believed that he will make things work. She told him she loved him - Foolishness as she looks back now.

He loved to party. She didn’t. He loved to go out. She wasn’t allowed to. He loved to drink. She couldn’t stand the taste of alcohol. He was a “barkada man”. She was more of the “low-profile” one. They were both different individuals to begin with. Different individuals connected by music.

MUSIC

Music kept them together…if only it was enough to mend them back. But music fades…in time. As for the both of them, the time has come for them to fade away and drift apart.

He gave her a uke.

He was able to find a new song, a new symphony to get by. But her? She is still stuck in the same old genre. Trying her best to look for a new one. She still keeps on playing the old songs, but she is trying.. Trying. Struggling.

She holds her uke

Hoping to play a new song, and share it with someone who sees her worth.

They never fought.

Never had any misunderstandings.

She thought that things were perfect.

Perfect.

He thought things were failing.

failing.

She was looking forward to years and years with him.

Years with him.

He was waiting for the proper time to end things.

She always wanted to be with him.

Be with him.

He got fed up.

She looked forward to her 18th, her most important day with him

he broke her on her birthday.

She looks back without any regrets. She’s hurt but she’s getting by. She’s hurt and she’s mending herself and picking up the pieces and parts of her that he broke. She’s rebuilding her fences. She’s rebuilding her walls. She’s rebuilding her guard, and the next time she sees him, all she’ll do is smile and wave high. Look at him in the eye, and remember all the memories, pain, and happiness that he’d caused her - feelings that will help her fully heal and mend. Emotions that will help her improve herself and be a better individual.

She looks back now without any regrets.

He used to love her.

She used to love him

well maybe she still does, but not as much as before. All she needs is more time.

TIME

In time she will forget.

In time, she’ll find a new song, a better one

In time she’ll genuinely smile again

in time.

Before you enter in a relationship, you should probably take hold of a dictionary and look up the word “sacrifice.” and “promise.” It can’t always be a one way thing. Continues efforts has to be made by both sides to keep the promises and the relationship going.

For people like her, love will always be a risk.- a risk that she will forever be scared of taking again.

For him….I wonder what it means.
